What is Project Management Day of Service? (PMDOS®)
PMDOS® events provide nonprofits with pro bono (free, professional) project management services to help them address their most difficult challenges. We do this by bringing together local project managers (PM volunteers) with nonprofits who are passionate about serving their communities. The PM volunteers help the nonprofits to scope and plan projects that enable the nonprofits to do more to serve their communities.
How does Project Management Day of Service (PMDOS®) Work?
Each nonprofit is paired with a team of experienced project managers through a “matching” process. Additional subject matter experts (SMEs) from various professions (e.g., marketing, finance, technology, etc.) may also be available for consultation as needed. Project managers and nonprofit representatives spend one or more days (depending on the location of the event) scoping and planning a project to address a critical need of the nonprofit, and the nonprofit leaves with an actionable plan.
“We started the Project Management Day of Service (PMDOS®) because we understand the need for project management in the nonprofit sector, and we care deeply about giving back to our community. Our first event, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 2015, exceeded our expectations of the kind of impact we could have, so we created Project Management for Change to extend that impact at PMDOS® events around the world. This is our tenth year of running PMDOS® and we now also offer year-round support and resources through our Continuous Value Delivery program. We truly are changing the world, one project at a time!” ~ A message from our Founders
